Full-stack development upgrading legacy site to new framework
At Educate 360, we were tasked with renewing a legacy site, Watermark Learning. It ran an outdated version of PHP that created security risks, and the codebase wasn't scaling well. We upgraded to PHP 8+ and added the Laravel framework to the site.
This was a big overhaul with the whole dev team involved. We coordinated and delegated tasks, and explored our options to deliver the project on time. I focused on building reusable components across the site, with heavy attention to getting the course components right.
After the initial build, I was one of two developers assigned to ongoing maintenance and updates. That meant developing new course pages, giving the UI occasional face lifts, and updating the cart system and Google Tag Manager as needed.
